Tiptoe Through the Tulips with Nora & I

Keukenhof, Holland was so very, very beautiful and the most perfect place to spend with my Nora, who loves flowers, nature, and animals. We left our house at 5:30 a.m., and Nora did not stop talking until we got in the car to come home at 8:30 p.m. We actually took a bus trip with Shape Trips and Tours, along with about 100 other individuals. The trip was only 3hrs. from Belgium (only 2.5 hrs. by car) and it was like entering a whole new world. In fact, it was down pouring rain when we left Belgium, but as soon as we crossed the border into the Netherlands, the sun shone. Over SEVEN MILLION tulips were in bloom -- Nora wanted to see them all. She also enjoyed the strawberries and cream, ice cream, and French fries. Keukenhof spring gardens is celebrating its 60th anniversary, as the park opened in 1949. This year, the theme was, "USA, New Amsterdam - New York." There was a special floral display of the Statue of Liberty. The USA has a special relationship with the Dutch, as we are the largest importer of Dutch flowers. Nora enjoyed the children's maze, the petting zoo, as well as the park. I enjoyed the stunning flowers. I plan on decorating Nora's next bedroom in canvas prints of this trip. I think that it is important to spend separate time with each of our children, to make them feel special. Next Saturday, Bennett is off to Paris with Chad.

It sounds like a great trip. We were disappointed we didn't plan differently and make it to Holland during tulip time.
